Shrub Oak Hornets Win Fifth Straight Game

SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Trevor McCarthy, Keir Maley and Joey DeLuca scored touchdowns as the Shrub Oak Hornets Black team remained undefeated with a 22-8 win over visiting Scarsdale White Sunday at Lakeland High School. McCarthy had a 25-yard scoring run, Maley a 15-yard touchdown run and DeLuca went from the five. Shrub Oak improved to 5-0.

Though it was the first points allowed this season by the Hornets, the defense turned in another solid game. Defensive end Nicky Vasquez spearheaded the effort. Alex Sancimino intercepted his first pass of the season and Mike Matheson blocked a punt. Korbin Reed and McCarthy each kicked an extra point. Quarterback Christos Moundroukas and split end Stephen Peters connected for 93 yards through the air. Shrub Oak will host undefeated North Yonkers Sunday at 11 a.m. at Lakeland.
