Panas Tops Port Chester, 21-13

PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- Bob and Karen James were in the stands at Ryan Stadium, cheering on the Port Chester High School Rams as the team faced off with the Walter Panas High School Panthers Thursday evening.

The Rams fell to the Panthers, 21-13. They trailed the visitors from Cortlandt Manor 21-6 at halftrime.

"The score means nothing right now," said Bob James at halftime. James' son Terrell plays defensive end for Port Chester.

"They play a pretty good second half," he said.

The crowd erupted in a  celebration after a long touchdown pass in the third quarter cut the Panthers lead. They missed the extra point, but were still within one score and a two-point conversion of tying the game.

The score held, though the Rams put up a good struggle to tie it.

With the clock ticking down, it became clear in the last 30 seconds that not much could be done. The Jameses, however, stayed through to the final whistle.

"They tried to the end," said Karen James.
