Hendrick Hudson Sailors Shut Out Yonkers, 34-0

MONTROSE, N.Y. – The Hendrick Hudson Sailors homecoming game was no contest as the Sailors defeated Yonkers’ Riverside High School Rams 34-0. The crisp autumn night was awash in blue, as the Sailors hometown fans came out to support their team.

“This is the first time we played well offensively and defensively,” said co-coach Mike Lynch, “We played for a full 48 minutes."

The most critical moment in the game, according to Lynch, was an interception by Carson Cole, from the Rams quarterback, which he ran bacl for a touchdown. The second quarter interception put the Sailors at a commanding lead of 19-0.

The score was something of a redemption for Cole, who fumbled early in the game. Although the match was a shutout, Lynch said the Rams “battled.” “They didn’t give up,” he said.

The second quarter ended with another touchdown by the Sailors, run in by David Furfaro, making the score 27-0 before halftime. The last touchdown came in the fourth quarter of the game, run in by Brandon Porro.

“You want to see them improving as the year goes on,” said Lynch, “and we definitely saw that.”
