Hendrick Hudson Inducts Seven into Hall of Fame

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Hendrick Hudson High School inducted seven former students/athletes in the school’s Sports Hall of Fame Saturday, including longtime football coach Vincent Annichiarico.

"Hard work and effort will carry you through life and responsibility doesn't stop when the pads come off and the game is over,” said Annichiarico, who was the head football coach from 1971 through 1995

Coach and athletic director Joe Ruyack, basketball player Mack Lee (1965), track athlete Lisa Taylor (1981), wrestler Mike Ford (1984), football player Rich "Guz Dozer" Guzi (1989) and the 1966 baseball team were also enshrined at the event at the Cortlandt Colonial.

Annichiarico, who went 7-2 in his first year, compiled a school-record 105 wins during his tenure as coach. His two sons Mike and Rick played for him at Hen Hud and all three of his daughters Lynn, Janet, and Jean were cheerleaders. Annichiarico was introduced by Croton Head Football Coach John Catano and Croton Assistant Coach John Bell, who both played for Coach “A”.

Former Dobbs Ferry Head Coach Skip Violante wrote this tribute for the program.

"He’s the true epitome of what a high school coach should be all about,” Violante said. “He's always treated the kids with respect and he's a great teacher and coach."
