CROMPOND, N.Y. -- Joey DeLuca did it both offensively and defensively, recently, as the Shrub Oak Hornets Black team defeated Cortlandt, 30-0 at Walter Panas High School in a youth football game.The Hornets are comprised of seventh- and eighth-graders from Copper Beech Middle School in the Lakeland School District.DeLuca had scoring runs of 25 and three yards, and also returned an interception 15 yards for a score. Dominic Dean also added a touchdown on a five-yard run.Trevor McCarthy converted two extra points and Korbin Reed kicked his first extra point of the season.The Shrub Oak defense had another unyielding game, registering its fourth shutout in as many games this season. Shrub Oak will play the Scarsdale White team, Sunday.
