Croton Trips Putnam Valley in Officials Challenge

BREWSTER, N.Y. – Ian Thom continued his hot scoring, canning a team-high 22 points, and teammate Tyler Gilman scored a career-high 16 points Saturday as the Croton Tigers boys rolled to a 65-53 victory over Putnam Valley in the Putnam Officials Challenge at Brewster High School.

Thom, who followed a season-high 28-point output in Friday’s win over Ossining, added six assists and five rebounds, was named the Player of the Game as the Tigers upped their record to 8-2.

“Ian, Wes (Turner) and Aaron (Thompson) have been the steady contributors but now Rob (Simmons), Tyler Gilman) and Sean O'Connell are stepping up around the top three,” Tigers coach Bill Thom said.

Simmons gathered a career-high 13 rebounds and scored five points, Turner scored 13 points and had five rebounds and Thompson added five points and handed out eight assists in a balanced attack.
