SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Croton continued to show Section 1 that it is the team to beat in Class B this season. Croton (4-0) manhandled Nanuet, 31-7, as quarterback Jessie Mainiero displayed his versatility as a passer and runner. The senior rushed 16 times for a game-high 129 yards and also completed 4 of 5 passes for 114 yards and two scores. The Croton defense had another excellent outing, ringing up seven sacks, spearheaded by John Brennan and Kyle Ricciardis two apiece. Brennan had nine tackles along with Alex Bowser. Nick Grous, who ran for a touchdown, had a fumble recovery. Edgemont, which was shut out by Irvington last week, will have its hands full offensively against Crotons smothering defense.
