Croton hosts Nanuet in Matchup of Former Champs

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Croton escaped with its undefeated record intact last week with a 7-6 victory over Our Lady of Lourdes. The Tigers will host Nanuet Saturday at 3 p.m. The game features the last two Section 1 Class B champions. Nanuet won the 2009 title and played in the state final. Last year, Croton won and advanced to the state semifinals. Croton received a touchdown pass from Jessie Mainiero and 93 yards rushing from Nick Grous to overcome Lourdes. These two teams could very well meet again in the Section 1 Class B final. Nanuet enters the game on a two-game win streak. The Golden Knights stole a 7-6 win from Pleasantville with a touchdown on the final play of the game. Last week, Nanuet overwhelmed John F. Kennedy by 24 points.
