Croton Girls Finish Fast to Defeat Westlake

THORNWOOD, N.Y. – Clinched in a tight battle for three quarters, the Croton girls’ basketball team outscored Westlake 18-3 in the fourth quarter Monday and rolled to a 60-43 victory at Westlake High School.

Grace Mulligan led all scorers with 19 points as the Tigers moved their record to 7-3. Croton led by a narrow 42-40 score after three quarters as the teams were locked in back-and-forth tussle.

“Our commitment to team defense in the fourth quarter is what led us to victory,” Tigers coach Ben Martucci said.

Dani Douglas contributed 15 points, including three three-pointers, and freshman Kate Dymes added 11 for Croton. Captains Lauren Lopano and Melissa Wagner contributed six and four points, respectively.

Tina Karaqi led Westlake with 18 points.
