Croton Boys Rebound, Shoot Past Ossining

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Ian Thom tossed in a season-high 28 points, including three 3-pointers, and the Croton boys’ basketball team rebounded from a late loss to Pleasantville earlier this week to defeat visiting Ossining 66-57 Friday.

The Tigers, whom opened an early 10-point lead and led 36-25 at halftime, upped their record to 7-2 and have won four of their last five games.

“The team showed lots of heart bouncing back from the Pleasantville game,” Croton coach Bill Thom said.

Thom was economic with his shooting from the field and the foul line, making 4 of 6 from two-point range, 3 of 3 from the three-point area and 11 of 14 from the free throw line.

Wes Turner, who helped lead a fourth-quarter comeback against Pleasantville Wednesday, scored 16 points and Aaron Thompson added 12 for Croton. Pleasantville hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds remaining in the game for a 69-66 victory.

Noah Morton led Ossining with 17 points and Carmine Gerrity scored 12.
