Croton Boys Pull Out Late Win at Ossining

OSSINING, N.Y. – Rob Simmons grabbed a rebound off a missed free throw with under 30 seconds remaining and the visiting Croton boys basketball team completed a fourth-quarter comeback for a 50-47 victory over Ossining.

“Both teams played well on defense and it was a battle throughout the game,” Croton Coach Bill Thom said. “Rob Simmons made a big play getting a rebound off a missed free throw to seal the win for us. We have shown good balance with all the guys contributing.”

Aaron Thompson, who led the fourth-quarter comeback with seven of his nine total points, made the first of two free throws and Simmons grabbed the rebound on the second shot to put the Tigers ahead after having trailed by six points with less than three minutes to play.

Ian Thom scored a team-high 16 points and added four assists and six rebounds, Wes Turner added 12 points and nine boards and Thompson had six assists for the winners, who ran their record to 12-3.

The Tigers will host Westlake Friday at 7 p.m. their next game.
