CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Wes Turner led all scorers with 22 points to lead the Croton boys to a decisive 61-39 victory over Hendrick Hudson Friday in the final regular season game for both teams and the annual Gazette Cup meeting between the neighboring schools.
The Tigers (13-5), who won their seventh Gazette Cup and second straight in the series, move into the Section 1 postseason playoffs with seeding for the tournament set for Monday.
It was a nice finish to a successful regular season, Tigers coach Bill Thom said. It is a great way to bounce back from Tuesdays loss to Briarcliff, as well as prep for next weeks sectional opener.
Tyler Gilman contributed 11 points and six rebounds and Ian Thom added eight points, eight assists and five steals for Croton.
Turner, also led the Tigers with eight rebounds, was named the games Most Valuable Player.
