CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. -- Sixth-graders at Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School in Croton-on-Hudson hosted an interactive fraction fair to showcase their newly acquired knowledge of fractions.
The students created math games in a county fair-style on Jan, 21, to teach their classmates and younger peers about fractions.
“The fair was modeled after old fashioned county fairs with fun-filled booths,” said math teacher Maureen Dillon. “The booths of our fair each had a hands-on, interactive way to teach the fraction skills the students learned this term.”
Fifth-grade students visited the fair and learned the skills in an innovative way before collecting exit tickets to prove they learned something new. Students were able to enter their tickets into a lottery for prizes.
