Lakeland Schools Receive Two Awards for Technology

The Lakeland Central School District was recognized for its technology innovation at the eighteenth-annual Pioneer Awards Ceremony May 20.

The ceremony awarded the district two of the three awards for its innovative uses of technology in the classroom. The Lower Hudson Regional Information Center recognizes a school district, teacher and director of technology from Westchester, Rockland and Putnam counties.

“This award recognizes the outstanding work being done by the staff in our schools to use technology to enhance student learning,” Superintendent of School Dr. George Stone said in a press release. “Our classrooms are enriched through contact and collaboration between teachers, technology experts and other students."

The award for Outstanding Director of Technology was given to Dwayne Hoffman, Lakeland’s Director of Technology and the award for the school district was given to Lakeland for its uses of videoconferencing and digital tools.
