Lakeland Board President, Vice President Reelected

YORKTOWN, N.Y.-- Lakeland Board of Education president Elizabeth Kogler, and Vice President Carol Ann Dobson were re-elected to their current office positions at Thursday’s board meeting.

Kogler was nominated for the position by Carol Ann Dobson.

“[S]he’s done an excellent job and I think she should continue that,” Dobson said.

Each were voted into their position unanimously, although Kogler abstained from voting for herself. Trustees Scott Carey, Michael Cherchia and Glen Malia were sworn into their positions. No other nominations for board president or vice president were made.

Prior to the meeting start, a moment of silence was observed for Michael Mullamphy, a Walter Panas student who passed away last Saturday. Police said Mullamphy was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.

“I urge everyone please to buckle up—whether you’re sitting in the front or the back of your car, and if you are the driver of the car please don’t start the engine until everyone in your car is buckled and remains that way,” Kogler said. “This is just a tragic, tragic loss of life.”
