MONTROSE, N.Y. The Hendrick Hudson School Districts talent competition, Hen Huds Got Talent, raised over $3,000 on Friday night, and over 300 people attended the event. Claire Leyden came out on top of the competition, winning first place in the senior division.
Although five top cash prizes were given out, Hendrick Hudson High School chorus teacher, Erica Denler, said, Every kid is a winner, they all sang incredibly well, there was a lot of camaraderie. The judges were outstanding, they were very encouraging to all the kids.
Thirty-three students registered in the second annual showing of the competition. Senior division winners won cash prizes of $300 for first place, $200 for second place, and $100 for first place.
Junior level winners won $150 for first place, and $100 for second place. Judges were Tom Furci, afternoon radio host on WHUD, Daisy Jopling, rock violinist, and Craig Schulman, a Broadway musical theater performer.
