MONTROSE, N.Y. The Hendrick Hudson School District announced a tentative agreement with the Hendrick Hudson Education Association, the districts teachers union, after nearly 18 months of negotiations.
We are relieved that we were able to restore these critical positions, and as a result, will be able to maintain our quality programs, said Hen Hud Superintendent, Daniel McCann in a release from the district.
If the tentative agreement is ratified, six full-time teaching positions would be restored and three previously full-time positions could be restored to part-time. District officials said the additional three part-time positions were restored through operational savings.
The district announced the agreement around 8 p.m. Monday, just hours before the public vote on the school district's 2012-2013 budget.
Details of the agreement have not been released, but during previous budget meetings district officials have said staff positions could not be restored without a zero increase contract from teachers.
We are pleased and appreciative of the HHEA and their leadership for taking the necessary steps to bring this contract to resolution. This resolution is the result of 18 months of talks and some marathon negotiation sessions. The HHEA and the district were able to come together to resolve our differences and ensure that our students are provided with the very best education, McCann said.
