Route 9 Gas Station Owner Charged With Having Unstamped Cigarettes

WAPPINGER, N.Y. -- The owner of a gas station on Route 9 in Wappinger has been charged with being in possession of unstamped cigarettes.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks charged Ahmad A. Ahmad, age 41, of East Fishkill with the Class A misdemeanor on Tuesday.

Subsequent to a retail check at the Sunoco gas station located at 1499 Route 9, Ahmad was found to possess numerous cartons of cigarettes without legitimate tax stamps, New York State Police said.

The New York State Police were assisted by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Criminal Investigations Division, New York State Police said.

Ahmad was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Wappinger Court on Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m., police said.
