New York State Police in Cortlandt received a call around 4:16 a.m. Saturday from a resident who claimed his 76-year-old father Mario Vallorosi had shot his 75-year-old mother in their home on Udell Court. Troopers took Mario Vallarosi into custody and "located the mother with an apparent shotgun wound to her abdomen," according to a press release from New York State Police.
"The victim was transported to Westchester Medical Center and is currently listed in critical condition after undergoing emergency surgery," according to the release.
Mario Vallerosi has been charged with first-degree assault and was arraigned in the Village of Croton and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail/bond.
While the investigation is ongoing, state police said an initial investigation revealed both Vallerosi and his wife had been involved in an argument the night before, according to the release.
