Police: Cortlandt Man Knocks Woman Unconscious While Holding Baby

CORTLANDT, N.Y. -- A Cortlandt man faces multiple charges after he allegedly knocked his partner unconscious while he was holding their 6-month-old child, state police said.

Angel F. Cobos, 30, was arrested Monday and charged with third-degree assault, fourth-degree criminal mischief and endangering the welfare of a child, all misdemeanors, police said.

Troopers investigating a domestic disturbance Monday said they were told by the victim that Cobos had struck her in the face and that she passed out. When she came to, she tried to call 911 but Cobos prevented her from using the phone, police said.

According to police, Cobos was holding the couple’s baby during the argument.

Cobos fled the home just before police arrived. He was tracked down in Peekskill and arrested, police said.

Cobos was arraigned before Cortlandt Justice Court and released on $1,000 bail.

 He is to appear in Cortlandt Justice Court on Monday, Jan. 25.
