Mark Graff, 54, of Putnam Valley, was killed around 5 p.m., on Monday, Nov. 11, during the crash in LaGrange.on East Noxon Road at the intersection with South Cross Road, said Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Capt. John Watterson.

A preliminary investigation has revealed that Graff was traveling eastbound on East Noxon Road when he attempted to make a left turn onto South Cross Road, Watterson said.

While making the turn the motorcycle was struck by a 2004 Mercury Sable driven by Matthew Brubacher, 32, of LaGrange.

Brubacher was uninjured in the crash. Graff was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Graff worked as a field technician for Verizon. He was a motorcycle enthusiast, avid fisherman and a member of the Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club, his obituary said.

He is survived by his mother Anita Thomson, son Mark Graff Jr., sister Sandra Schechter and her husband Jamie.

The investigation into the crash is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit, and at this time the primary factor is considered to be a failure to yield the right of way on the part of the motorcyclist, Watterson said.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the LaGrange Fire Department.
