The stalking came to light on Saturday, Jan. 18, when Putnam County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Irwin responded to a residence in the Town of Southeast for a reported unwanted person on the property.
When he arrived on the scene, Irwin spoke with the victim who said a man that she knows from a gaming app online, showed up at her house unannounced and uninvited.
The victim said she and the man used to play an online game together called, “Ark Survival” and that, approximately two years ago, she stopped speaking to and playing online with the man when he began acting “jealous," the department said.
According to the victim, she continued to receive gaming invites from the man which she ignored.
Around Jan. 16, the victim discovered that the man had hacked into her online gaming account and then he showed up at her door, making her fear for her safety, the department said.
The victim provided Deputy Irwin with a description of the and his vehicle which he relayed to other deputies in the area.
The man, identified as Rattana V. Phimmavongsa, of New Hampshire, was located at a nearby motel and taken into custody.
Phimmavongsa was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility and charged with stalking.
Following his arraignment, he was released on his own recognizance as mandated by newly implemented bail reform laws.
