Cortlandt Manor Man Assumed Dead, Found Alive In Home

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Cortlandt Manor man thought by police to have committed suicide with a chemical of some kind, was found alive in his home Monday evening.

Four neighboring residences were evacuated, and several state, county and local first responder agencies were on scene for more than three hours at 42 Westminster Drive, attempting to assess the situation inside the home.

New York State Police told The Cortlandt Daily Voice that the man sent a suicide note to a friend via email, telling the friend he may have used chemicals to commit suicide. Sgt. Robert Young, New York State Police investigator, said the man was discovered alive in his home without a weapon, around past 9 p.m.

Police did not release the man's name as of 9 p.m. on Monday evening, but said he was a male between 55 and 60-years-old, and that they believed he was being transported to Westchester Medical Center.
