State police in Highland, in conjunction with efforts from state police in Somers, concluded an investigation into a report that Joseph A. Sucato, 30, of Hyde Park had recently sexually abused an 11-year-old female while she was asleep, according to police.
The female victim was the daughter of an acquaintance of Sucato’s who resided in the Town of Hyde Park, in Dutchess County, which is also where the incident was found to have occurred, state police said. At the time of the incident, Sucato was under the restriction of an active order of protection that protected the female victim and her family, police said.
Sucato was charged with sexual abuse in the first degree (a Class D felony), endangering the welfare of a child (a Class A misdemeanor), criminal contempt in the first degree and aggravated family offense (both being class E felonies). which stemmed from a prior qualifying family offense conviction that Sucato had received.
Sucato was arraigned in the Town Hyde Park Court and subsequently remanded to Dutchess County Jail on $75,000 cash/$100,000 bond. Sucato is due re-appear in the Town Hyde Park Court on July 5.
