Robert W. Murnane, 78, Of Cortlandt Manor

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. - Robert W. Murnane of Cortlandt Manor, formerly a longtime resident of Yonkers, died Thursday, October 31. He was 78.

Murnane was born April 24, 1935, in Brooklyn. He attended St. Francis College in Brooklyn and was an MP in the U.S Army. He was a life member of the Bellmore Fire Department and the Bellmore Council Knights of Columbus. He was a life member of the Police Emerald Society Pipes and Drums of Westchester and the Police Emerald Society.

Murnane is survived by his wife, Denise; sons, Robert Jr. and Daniel Murnane; daughters, Trish Burke (Damon) and Tara Murnane; brother, Edmund Murnane (Betty); sisters, Anne O’Leary, Rita Buckhorn Kelly (Eugene) and Marilyn Concannon; sisters-in-law, Arlene Khan, Marion Murnane and former sister-in-law, Catherine Rallis; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur.

Calling hours are Sunday, Nov. 3 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Yorktown Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4 at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.
