CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Juan G. Vanegas of Croton-on-Hudson died June 19 at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow. He was 68.
He was born Sept. 8, 1943, in Solano, Ecuador to Juan A. and Florinda Ortega Vanegas. He moved from Ecuador to Tarrytown in 1996 and to Croton-on-Hudson in 1981. Vanegas was employed by Asplundh Tree Expert Company. He was a parishioner of Assumption Church in Peekskill.
Vanegas is survived by his wife, Maria; three daughters, Lourdes (Jose) Ortega, Dinorah (Reinaldo) Sanchez and Nancy (Cleber) Solis; a son, Danny (Lina) Vanegas; six siblings Rosa E Espinoza, Alverto Vanegas, Jesus Vanegas, Rosario Vanegas, Rosa Vanegas and Uvaldina Vanegas and 12 grandchildren.
Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Dorsey Funeral Home in Ossining. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Assumption Church.
