Alfred V. Milani, 95, Of Croton, WWII Veteran

CROTON, N.Y. - Alfred V. Milani of Croton and formerly of Ossining, died Dec. 16. He was 95.

Milani was born Nov. 5, 1918, in New York City; son of Camillo and Annetta Savoretti Milani. He attended DeWitt Clinton High School, where he won the Italian Language Award. An Army medic for one year, he then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a top turret gunner in the 391 Bombardment Group and the 372 Bombardment Squadron. He received numerous medals for his heroic service.

He served in the New York City Police Department, and then as a clerk in the New York State Supreme Court until retirement. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Mt. Kisco.

Milani is survived by his wife, Josephine; son, Mark; daughters, Mary Milani and Christina Stigliano; seven grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Calling hours are Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 at St. Augustine’s Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
