Yorktown Shop Owner Faces Child Porn Charges

The owner of a Yorktown ice cream shop was arraigned Friday on child pornography charges.

Richard Scarchilli, of 351 London Road, and owner of Richie’s Ice Cream Store and Bakery on Downing Drive, is charged with one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child and one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child. Scarchilli faces up to seven years in state prison if he is found guilty of these charges, both felonies.

According to the Westchester County District Attorney's office, Scarchilli posted a digital video involving three eight-year old children performing sexual act on a website that caters to pedophilia in February. In April after investigators in Westchester County obtained a search warrant, they recovered a computer from the defendant’s home which held a video of a child younger than 16 involved in an obscene sexual act, they said.

Scarchilli surrendered himself and was arraigned in Cortlandt Town Court, according to law enforcement. He was released on his own recognizance and his next court appearance is scheduled for September 27 in County Court.
