CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Here are some of our picks for the best events happening this weekend in the town of Cortlandt.

Friday, April 27

Amazing Ambassadors of the Animal Embassy 7 to 8 p.m. Meet animals from around the world, representing many habitats and reflecting the diversity of life on Earth. Discover how important each animal is to its ecosystem and the challenges each faces, as you get “eyeball-to-eyeball” with frogs, lizards, snakes, chinchillas and more. This event takes place at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson.

Disney Ditties 7 to 8 p.m. Elementary school children will perform Disney songs in the Hendrick Hudson High School cafeteria, 2166 Albany Post Road, Montrose.

Saturday, April 28

Healthy on the Hudson 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Hendrick Hudson Community Education Foundation is sponsoring a 5K run/walk beginning at the Hendrick Hudson High School campus. Check in is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. The event will also have a health expo. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Participants in the walk or run can preregister with the foundation and pay $25 for adults and $15 for students. Registration on the day of the event costs an additional $10.

Croton Earth Day 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plant morning glory seeds, make a fish print and enjoy music by local musicians in Senasqua Park for Croton’s celebration of Earth Day. This event is sponsored by the Croton Conservation Advisory Council.

Spring Cleaning at Teatown 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Nature has awakened from a long winter’s nap and is sprucing up for spring. On this walk and talk discover some rituals of spring. Call 914-762-2912, Ext. 110, to make a reservation.

All Lit Up 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. The rhythm and roots band presents an evening of honky-tonk, country and rockabilly favorites, mixed with original songs such as “The Croton Cannonball.” The evening features Croton-on-Hudson musicians Andy Karp (vocals/guitar) and Debbie Cohen (vocals/bass guitar), plus special guests Eric Puente (drums) and Bill Christophersen (fiddle guitar). This event takes place at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson.

Sunday, April 29

Jazz Concert with Ricardo Gautreau 2 to 3 p.m. Ricardo Gautreau will perform a free concert at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library, 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. Call 914-739-5654 for more information.

New York City’s Water System and the New Croton Dam 2 to 4 p.m. Popular speaker Carl Oechsner, president of the Croton Friends of History, leads a walk into the past. Participants will meet at the Croton Free Library, 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson, and will carpool to the New Croton Dam Park for a guided tour. Bring water and wear comfortable walking shows.
