What's Happening in Cortlandt This Week

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Many people will take Monday off to celebrate Presidents Day, and many local government offices are closed. Check out our Events Homepage for even more events in and around Cortlandt.

Monday, Feb. 20

Government Offices Closed - Most government offices will be closed on Presidents Day, including the offices of the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, Village of Buchanan and Town of Cortlandt. The Hendrick Hudson Free Library and Croton Free Library will also be closed.

Mid-Winter Break - Students in the Hendrick Hudson School District and Croton-Harmon School District will be on mid-winter break for the week of Feb. 20.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

Croton Board of Trustees - The Village of Croton-on-Hudson will hold its usual Monday village meetings on Tuesday, because village offices are closed on Presidents Day. The board will discuss issues pertinent to the village, including correspondence and upcoming projects. The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building and is free and open to the public.

Buchanan Village Board Workshop - The Buchanan Village Board will discuss current issues in its work session, there is generally no audience comment section during these workshops.  The workshop will begin at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Grievance Night - The Village of Buchanan will hold Grievance Night from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., where residents can come to Village Hall to grieve their property tax assessment. Filing a grievance begins the process of adjusting a property tax assessment.

Daughters of the American Revolution - The Mohegan Chapter of the Daughter's of the American Revolution present Anthony J Czarnecki, past President of the Lincoln Society of Peekskill, to discuss President-elect Lincoln’s visit to Peekskill 1861. During Lincoln's historic 12-day train journey from his home in Springfield, Ill. to his Inauguration in Washington, D.C. in Feb. 1861, Lincoln participated in 100 speaking stops or public events along the way. His only speaking stop in Westchester County was at the Peekskill train depot. The program is free, and will begin at 1 p.m. at the John C. Hart Memorial Library, 1130 E. Main St., Shrub Oak. Wednesday, Feb. 22

Sustainability Committee - The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Sustainability Committee will discuss issues pertinent to the village’s sustainability policies. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, and is free and open to the public.

Trails Committee -The Village of Croton-on-Hudson Trails Committee will discuss issues pertinent to the village’s parks and trails. The meeting will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building, and is free and open to the public.

Thursday, Feb. 23

“Midnight in Paris” - The Hendrick Hudson Free Library’s weekday matinee film series continues in the community room with "Midnight in Paris" (PG-13), Woody Allen and the city of Paris at their best. Running time is 1 hour, 34 minutes, the movie begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Hendrick Hudson Free Library, located at 185 Kings Ferry Road, Montrose. The movie is free.

Pink Floyd Experience in Peekskill - Paramount Center for the Arts presents The Pink Floyd Experience. PFX recreates the legendary band's unique music and performances, tickets are $35 to $55. This performance begins at 8 p.m. For more information, visit the Paramount's website
