What's Happening Around Cortlandt This Weekend

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – There is a wide variety of events to fill your weekend calendar happening in and around Cortlandt. Check out the Sleepy Hollow String Band’s bluegrass performance at the Croton Free Library or take a brisk talk with the Sawmill River Audubon through Brinton Brook Sanctuary.

Friday

Let’s Pretend with Nora Join Nora at the Croton Free Library. This program is best for children between 2 and 4-years-old and includes songs, dance and movements. Children should come with a caregiver. This event is held in the Ottinger Room from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and there is no admission fee. The Croton Free Library is located at 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton.

Mommy and Me Yoga Bond with your baby through yoga. This yoga session is for parents and babies from newborn to crawling. There will be postures to strengthen your mind and body, songs and the opportunity to meet other moms with little ones. Admission is $18 to drop-in or $90 for a five class card. Lego League Registration begins for Hendrick Hudson Free Library’s Lego League. The league will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m. Each “block party” features a theme and an hour of Lego building. The program is for children 1 to 4-years-old. Morning Walk Through Brinton Brook Join the Sawmill River Audubon for a walk through Brinton Brook Bird Sanctuary in Croton. This walk is suggested for everyone over 6-years-old and it is suggested you wear good walking shoes, since terrain will vary. Jewelry Artist Reception Rutheny’s Jewelry, home of hand-crafted artisan metal jewelry, will host a reception for the artists of its Jewelry Extravaganza. This is a great place to pick up hand-made, professionally crafted jewelry for your Valentine’s Day sweetheart. There will be opportunities to meet the artists involved. Valentine’s Concert for 9/11 Memorial The Buchanan-Cortlandt-Croton 9/11 Memorial will host a benefit concert at the Cove restaurant in Peekskill, located at 5 John Walsh Blvd. The concert will feature music by Brooklyn Bridge musical director Tommy Sullivan. Appetizers and a light buffet will be served and admission is $35 per person. The concert begins at 3 p.m.

Sleepy Hollow String Band Bluegrass Concert The Croton Free Library will host the Sleepy Hollow String Band performing bluegrass music beginning at 2 p.m. The band will cover a wide range of American “roots” music, including Ricky Skaggs, Johnny Cash, George Jones, Leadbelly and Woody Guthrie.
