What's Happening Around Croton This Week

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – There are a number of events happening in and around the Town of Cortlandt and Village of Croton this week, including government meetings and community happenings. Check out our events listings for even more events.

Monday, Feb. 13

Croton-Harmon Board of Education Budget Workshop: Beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Croton-Harmon High School’s Community Room, this budget workshop will discuss the $800,000 in savings the district must find in order to present a budget under New York State’s new tax cap limits. Croton-Harmon High School is located at 36 Old Post Road S., Croton-on-Hudson.

Cortlandt Town Board Work Session: Although no legislative action is normally taken in these legislative meetings, the board will discuss current issues and future legislative action. The work session begins at 7 p.m. and will take place in the Vincent F. Nyberg Meeting Room in Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St. in Cortlandt.

Village of Croton Work Session: One of two work sessions per month, the Croton Board of Trustees discusses future legislative actions and current issues in these meetings. There is no citizen participation portion of these meetings. The work session will take place at the Stanley H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building in Croton, at 1 Van Wyck St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Buchanan Village Office Closed: to honor Abraham Lincoln’s birthday.

Homework Help: Beginning a 3 p.m. the Croton Free Library will have a New York State Certified teacher available to help children with their homework, up to sixth grade. Help will be available until 5:30 p.m. The Croton Free Library is located at 171 Cleveland Drive, Croton-on-Hudson.

Jewelry Extravaganza: This once per year jewelry show brings more than a half dozen jewelers together under Rutheny’s Jewelry’s roof. Jewelry of all prices and styles, from $10 to gold jewelry in the thousands will be available. The show is running until Valentine’s Day, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., at Rutheny’s Jewelry, 80 Brook St., Croton-on-Hudson.

Tuesday, Feb. 14

Cortlandt Town Board Meeting: The Cortlandt Town Board will take legislative action on issues discussed during work sessions. The town board meeting begins at 7:30 p.m., in the Vincent F. Nyberg Meeting Room, at Cortlandt Town Hall, 1 Heady St., Cortlandt.

Wednesday, Feb. 15

Thursday, Feb. 16

Teen Book Club: If an entire nation can seek its freedom, why not a girl? In this fast-paced, fascinating novel, as the Revolutionary War begins, 13-year-old Isabel wages her own fight for freedom. Snacks and drinks will be provided, pre-register and receive a free copy of the book.
