State Police Arrest Two in Underage Alcohol Sales Sting

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Employees of two separate Cortlandt businesses were charged with misdemeanor unlawfully selling alcohol to a minor Friday, during a New York State Police underage drinking initiative.

A total of 19 establishments in Cortlandt were part of the sting, in which a 17-year-old female attempted to purchase alcohol at the establishments under the surveillance of the New York State Police, investigators said.

One employee at Cole’s Market in Montrose and one employee at Courtesy Mobil in Cortlandt Manor were arrested and charged with unlawfully selling alcohol to a minor, a violation of the Alcohol and Beverage Control Law, according to investigators.

Other area establishments, which were part of the sting but did not have any violations, include the Post Road Deli and Montrose Deli in Montrose, B and B Wines and Liquors in Buchanan, Montrose Beer and Soda and Cortlandt Wine and Spirit in Croton, investigators said.

Cortlandt establishments include the Oregon Shell and Oregon Citgo on Oregon Road, Lou's Corner Store on Frederick Street, Annsville Circle Mobil, 123 Food Stop on Route 9, Rock Cut Deli on Albany Post Road, Mohegan Wine and Liquor and Mohegan Beer and Soda, Hess Mart and DB Mart on Crompond Road, Rite Aid in the Cortlandt Town Center and Trails End Deli in Verplanck, according to investigators.
