Silver Lake Scheduled to Open Memorial Day Weekend

Silver Lake Park is located at the end of Truesdale Drive in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. The park offers a sandy beach and lifeguard protected swim area in the pristine Croton River during the summer months. The park is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 28, Memorial Day Weekend, for weekends only. The park will open full time, seven days a week, on June 24.

A village ID or school district ID is required to enter the park, as is a park pass which can be obtained in the Recreation Department in the Stanly H. Kellerhouse Municipal Building in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y. The park is only open to village residents and school district residents, and all guests, must be accompanied by a pass holding village resident. Minors should obtain a village ID from the Recreation Department in order to enter the park.

Park Passes are valid for one year. Village resident family passes cost $130, while school district resident families will pay $180. Cost for individuals range between $65, for village residents, and $90 for school district residents. Children's passes cost $35 for residents and $50 for school district residents.

The beach is surrounded by woods and boulders, which line the Croton River. The Croton Community Garden is located just above Silver Lake Park. The beach is a popular summer hang out spot so early arrival is key if you want to put down a beach chair or towel. Swimming is only permitted when lifeguards are on duty and weak swimmers should be wary of the strong current near the side of the river opposite the beach.

Questions should be directed to the Croton-on-Hudson Recreation Department.
