Rotary Club Brings "Big Top" to Cortlandt

The Cortlandt Rotary Club will host the Kelly Miller Circus for one night, this Friday, as one of their three yearly fundraisers. The funds raised will go to one of the many charities supported by the Cortlandt Rotary Club, including local fire departments, school districts and the End Polio Now campaign.

“It goes back to charity in the community, it’s locally, nationally and internationally,” says Sharon Irving, Charter President for the Cortlandt Rotary Club, now in its second year. She continued that the Rotary Club “gives me a way to give back for all the blessings I’ve received in my life.”

The one-ring circus is complete with jugglers, acrobats, tigers, a dog show, and the “big top” is still pitched by an elephant. Anyone wishing to watch the elephants pull up the tent can go at 9 a.m. Friday morning to watch, according to Irving.

The circus will be held behind the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Department Substation, but patrons should park at Walter Panas High School, at 300 Croton Ave., Mohegan Lake. Buses will be provided by the Rotary Club for transportation to and from the circus. Showtimes are at 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are discounted, and will be $10 for adult admission and $6 for children. Tickets sold the day of the circus will be $15 adult admission and $7 for children.

Advance tickets are available at Bagels-on-Hudson in Croton, Bel’Doro Jewelers of Mohegan Lake, Corlandt Colonial Restaurant in Cortlandt Manor, HomeQuest Realty in Peekskill, Nature’s Window in Peekskill, Urban Tails in Montrose and Oregon Hardware in Putnam Valley.
