Pumpkin Picking and Hay Rides in Corlandt

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. – Autumn has arrived with pumpkin picking and spooky tales. Check out the ongoing Blaze at Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton, or check out some of these other spooky and kid friendly events.Thursday, October 6Columbus Day Fair Peekskill's Riverfront Green will host a Columbus Day Celebration with rides and other kid-friendly activities. Starting Thursday the fair will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will run through Saturday and Sunday, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Email info@peekskillcelebration.com, or call (914) 736-2000 for more information.Friday, October 7Old Time Jam Session Enjoy the cool autumn air outside at Hilltop Hanover Farm, for an old time music jam session starting at 6:30 p.m. on the first Friday of every month. Find your perfect jack o'lantern and enjoy an afternoon outdoors. Fields open are open from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and fees for pumpkins vary. The fields will also be open on Columbus Day.Fire Prevention Day Each year the Croton Fire Department hosts a fire prevention fair, this year is the 30th Anniversary, the theme is "Keep Your Family Safe from Fire." Free hotdogs and sodas will be available, and after completing a fire prevention workshop kids earn a ride on the fire truck. The event starts at 1 p.m. and runs until 5 p.m., at the Harmon Fire House in Croton.
