Cortlandt Man With Illegal Oxycontin Among Peekskill Arrests

PEEKSKILL – A resident violating an order of protection and damaging an acquaintance's residence are among those arrested by city police this week.

Laquan Smith, 31, of Peekskill, was arrested on Sunday at 12:43 p.m. and charged with first-degree criminal contempt, a class E felony, and fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, on Bleloch Avenue by Police Officer John Kolesar.

Smith was charged after forcibly opening a window at the home of a female acquaintance and causing damage. The victim has a stay away order of protection prohibiting Smith from any contact with her. He was held for arraignment in city court without bail.

There were a number of o ther arrests reported this week:

On Sept. 6 at 8:55 p.m. Robert Patterson, 34, of Peekskill was arrested and charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor, on the 100 Block of Wells Street by Police Officer Fabian Gonzalez. Patterson was charged following an investigation by Officer Gonzalez into the theft of liquor that occurred on Aug. 21 at TJC Liquors on North Division Street. Patterson was identified after being captured on the store's surveillance system. He was picked up at a residence on Wells Street and held for arraignment in city court.

On Sept. 7 at 1:46 a.m. Robert Terry, 39, of Ossining, was arrested and charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, on Spring Street in Ossining by Police Officer Julian Hermosillo. On Sept. 1 Terry and a female acquaintance became involved in an altercation while in the female's vehicle in Peekskill. During the altercation, the female left the vehicle and Terry drove off with the victim's consent. Terry was located in Ossining several days later and taken into custody without incident. He was released on $500 bail and is due to appear in City Court on Sept. 26.

Also on Sept. 7 at 5:10 p.m. Adam Arcuik, 23, of Yorktown, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, on the 900 block of South Street by Police Officer Jack Galusha. Arcuik was observed to be behaving in a suspicious manner while on the 900 block of South Street and subsequently interviewed. Further investigation revealed him to be in possession of several Ambien tablets without a prescription leading to his arrest. Arcuik was held for arraignment in Peekskill City Court.

On Sept.12 at 4:40 p.m. Antonio Lyons, 23, of Cortlandt was arrested and charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on the 800 Block of South Street by Police Officer Mike Agovino. Lyons was stopped after committing a vehicle and traffic violation and found to be in possession of 17 tablets of Oxycontin without a prescription. He was released on $500 bail and is due to appear in city court on Oct. 3 at 11 a.m.
