A large tree uprooted, fell atop another tree, power lines and a telephone pole at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Niles Road, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. The incident caused power lines feeding homes in the area to break and fall, causing a minor brush fire.

Fire crews responded to the scene, along with members of the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department and Con Edison.

The fire was quickly knocked down and the scene was turned over to police. Con Edison was on the scene for several hours, with multiple crews making repairs, removing the tree and broken pole. Power wasn’t restored until after 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
