CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Police are looking for a man who walked  into the Rite Aid in the Cortlandt Town Center Monday afternoon and used a threatening note to rob medicine from the pharmacy.

New York State Police said the bandit went into the East Main Street store about 3:45 p.m. and passed a note to an employee behind the pharmacy counter that said he had a gun and wanted medication.

Officers said the employee gave him medication and the robber left through the store’s front door.

Police said it is unclear as of 5:45 p.m. whether the man escaped on foot or got into a car. Officers said they are trying to compare photos of the man from Rite Aid surveillance cameras with cameras at nearby stores.

The man was described by police as a white male wearing a dark sweatshirt and baseball cap. An eyewitness said the man also had a bandage on his left cheek. The store was shut down late this afternoon while police processed the crime scene.
