Police Charge Infant's Parents with Kohl's Theft

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Westchester County Police charged two young parents with felony grand larceny and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, after police say the pair pilfered more than $1,200 worth of merchandise from Kohl’s Department Store in Cortlandt.

Police say Duglas Ramos, 27, and Glendi Espana, 27, both of Oak Street in Brewster, were found with $1,247.98 worth of merchandise on their persons, after Westchester County Police responded to a report from store security who had witnessed the couple concealing items, and leaving the store without paying.

In addition to the items found on the couple, police say Officer Rob Kelly found more items from the store in the couple’s car, which they placed in the vehicle before returning to the department store. Police say the pair had their infant daughter with them when they were charged with the crimes. The incident was reported at 9:15 p.m. Friday evening. Both are due in Cortlandt Town Court on March 23.

Unwarranted Report A caller to Westchester County police reported a woman who was wanted by police was present at a trailer park off Kings Ferry Road in Montrose.  The woman was located but a computer check revealed no active warrants for her arrest. The incident occurred just before 11 a.m., Thursday, March 8.

Truck Enforcement Westchester County Police conducted a commercial vehicle enforcement detail on Route 9A in Montrose to check that large trucks were properly securing their loads and operating with valid permits. Police say no serious violations were found. The enforcement occurred from about noon until 2:30 p.m. on March 8.
