Peekskill Man Charged with Larceny

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – A Peekskill man was arrested at Walmart in the Cortlandt after police said he attempted to steal $38 worth of merchandise. A hypodermic needle was later found in his possession.

James E. Simmons, 47, of Peekskill, was charged with petit larceny and possession of a hypodermic instrument. Loss prevention personnel in Walmart reported to New York State Police watching Simmons attempt to leave the story with the merchandise. Simmons is due in Cortlandt Town Justice court on Dec. 19, at 9 a.m.

In other police news:

Putnam County Sheriff William Mooney reported that a Verplanck woman was driving without a license in the Town of Philipstown. Nicole P. Deagan, 18, of 5th Street in Verplanck, was charged with misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation. Deagan will have to return to Philipstown Justice Court to answer the charge.
