CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. Croton residents will no longer be able to bag leaves for curbside pickup. Starting in November, the Department of Public Works will only collect loose leaves.
Vacuuming of loose leaves, augmented with the villages claw attachment, has been identified as the most efficient and cost effective means of collection, reads the village's most recent public notice.
The schedule of leaf pick up will soon be available on the villages website. The policy is different from last years leaf pick up, which allowed residents to bag their leaves or leave them loose on the curb. According to Janine King, the assistant village manager, the superintendent of public works suggested that having only one schedule could save the village money.
