CORTLANDT, N.Y. - A security manager at ShopRite reported to Westchester County Police that two men tried to leave the store without paying for a shopping cart full of seafood and beer. The two men fled when approached by the security manager. Store officials were advised to call county police if the men are spotted again in the store. The incident took place just at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 27.

Sunday, Jan. 1, 12:25 p.m. A resident of Montrose reported to Westchester County Police that he spotted a dead deer during a walk in Georges Island Park. The county Parks Department was notified to remove the carcass.
9:14 p.m. A resident of Lynwood Road in Cortlandt called Westchester County Police to report hearing suspicious noises in her back yard. An officer who responded found several deer near the residents pool.
Saturday, Dec. 31, 10:57 a.m. Westchester County Police and Lake Mohegan firefighters assisted a Peekskill man who accidentally locked his keys and his one-year-old son inside his car when he arrived at ShopRite on Route 6.
Friday, Dec. 30, 6:30 p.m. A patron at McDonalds in the Cortlandt Town Center on Route 6 said someone took a tote bag that she placed on a seat at the restaurant. The bag contained an iPod Touch and some personal items.
Thursday, Dec. 29 9:20 a.m. A resident of 3rd Street in Verplanck reported to county police that someone knocked over Christmas decorations displayed on his front lawn. The vandalism occurred overnight.
Tuesday, Dec. 27 11:32 a.m. A resident of 3rd Street in Verplanck reported to county police that someone slashed the left front tire of his sons car. The vandalism occurred sometime after 3 a.m.
