Man Hits DPW Recycling Truck in Croton

CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – A man hit a village of Croton Department of Public Works truck, which was picking up recycling on Glengary Road, according to a report called into Croton Police.

On Wednesday morning, police interview DPW workers, who said the man, in a green car, hit the DPW truck, declared there was no damage to the vehicle, and drove off. The truck sustained minor damage on the driver’s side step, said Croton Police. The matter is under investigation.

Thursday, October 13, 8:55 a.m. A caller reported chasing two teens smoking marijuana out of Vasalo Park. Patrols responded, were unable to locate the parties, but school officials were able to identify the individuals. Croton Police reports the investigation is ongoing.

Thursday, October 13, 3:44 p.m.  A woman reported to police headquarters that her Wells Fargo account was receiving unknown charges. She advised police that she had notified the bank, and cancelled her debit card.

Friday, October 14, 2:20 p.m. A woman, 23, was transported to Phelps Memorial Hospital after sustaining minor injuries, when her head hit the windshield of her Chevrolet Blazer.

Monday, October 17, 9:03 a.m. A woman was transported to Westchester Medical Center with minor injuries after her white Subaru coupe rolled over on Route 9 southbound, near the Route 129 exit. The woman had already exited her car through the driver’s door, upon patrols arrival. The exit was closed for some time.

Tuesday, October 18, 4:47 p.m.  Several youths destroyed the picnic bench in Vasalo Park, according to reports from a caller to the Croton Police Department. The youths were identified by Croton Police, and the matter is under investigation.

Wednesday, October 18, 11:05 a.m. A suspicious package was reported to Croton Police, on the access road to Harmon station. Croton Fire Department, MTA police and Croton EMS were dispatched, but the package was found to be harmless.

Wednesday, October 18, 11:14 a.m. A resident’s house filled up with smoke when a furnace malfunctioned. The party was advised to leave the house immediately, by Croton Police. Croton Fire Department responded, the party was advised to contact her service provider.
