Man Charged with DWI After Hitting Two Parked Cars

Editor's Note February 9, 2012: This story has been corrected to reflect that possession of a hypodermic needle is a misdemeanor, not a felony. In addition, police say the test results of substances removed from the suspects' car near the Amberlands, are still pending as of this date.

CROTON-ON-HUDSON N.Y. – An Ossining man was charged with three felonies and one misdemeanor after police said he hit two parked cars along South Riverside Avenue in Croton.

Police said the accident occurred near Grand Street on South Riverside Avenue just after 9 p.m. Rivera was initially escorted to Phelps Memorial Hospital with a police officer before he returned to police headquarters. There, police said he failed a sobriety test and was charged with three felonies. He was charged with felony DWI, an additional felony DWI because his BAC tested more than .08 and one more felony for aggravated unlicensed operation. He was also charged with a misdemeanor for driving without a court required breathalyzer in his car. Rivera was released on $750 bail and is due back in court on Feb. 15.

Death Threats Croton Police said a woman said someone threatened to shoot her over a parking space in the Van Wyck Shopping Center parking lot. The caller said that she and another woman had a dispute over a parking space and that the other woman said she had a gun and she was “going to get her,” before leaving the scene. Several variations of a plate number were given by witnesses and the complainant was brought back to headquarters for further investigation but declined to press charges. Police are looking for further information into the identity of the woman who left the scene. The incident was reported Monday, Jan. 30 at about 4:30 p.m.

Narcotics Arrest Two men were arrested on Jan. 31 and charged with misdemeanor narcotics charges after police said they were in possession of hypodermic instruments and what police believe were small amounts of narcotics. Croton Police responded to an anonymous caller, who said a car parked in the Amberlands area looked out of place. Matthew D. Troccoli, 23, of Buchanan, and Anthony Federico, 23, of Independence Street, Tarrytown, were both charged with misdemeanor possession of a hypodermic instrument. Troccoli was additionally charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance. Federico was additionally charged with misdemeanor criminal using drug paraphernalia.

Criminal Mischief An Amber Drive resident reported to Croton Police Jan. 28 the driver’s side rear window on her Pontiac was smashed. Police are investigating the matter.

Fraudulent Activities Croton Police report that a Half Moon Bay resident’s credit card was used without his permission to purchase $382 of women’s clothing at Kohl’s department store in Concord, Calif. The report was made about 6 p.m. Jan. 31.

Assault Patrols responded to Skyview Nursing Home to standby last Wednesday as an employee was suspended. After interviewing staff, police said they determined that Erich Omondi, 35, of Hood Place in Cortlandt Manor, assaulted two other staff members when he pushed them over a food cart. Police said the two other employees reported substantial neck, back and shoulder pain, but declined medical attention on scene. Omondi was charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault and was released on $400 cash bail. He is due in court on Wednesday.

Car Fire Multiple callers reported a car fire on Route 9 southbound just before 10 a.m. Thursday morning. A Toyota Corolla was partially engulfed in flames when Croton Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
