SHRUB OAK, N.Y. -- Lakelands senior trio of Shannon Scavelli, Emma Bozek and Gianna Bensaia were selected to the 2011 National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region team for New York.The trio, which led Lakeland to a third consecutive Section 1 Class B and New York State title, were three of 13 girls chosen for the New York Region.Scavelli, who will attend the University of Michigan and play field hockey, set a program record with 48 goals and finished with 73 points. Scavelli had two goals and an assist in the state final -- a 3-1 score -- over Garden City.Bozek, who will attend the University of North Carolina and play field hockey, had a team-leading 76 points on 40 goals and 36 assists.Bensaia, who was an excellent defensive midfielder, scored eight goals and had eight assists.Along with the Lakeland trio, Mamaroneck senior Jessica Gardiner was also selected to the New York region team.
