All sirens will be sounded at full volume for four minutes. Following the siren test, the Emergency Alert System will be activated on radio and television stations.

In an actual emergency, the sirens are not meant to be a signal to evacuate, but rather a signal to tune in to the Emergency Alert System.

Indian Point tests the 172 sirens on a regular basis. The last test took place on June 4.
