BUCHANAN, N.Y. Village of Buchanan voters reelected incumbent trustees Nick Zachary and Richard Funchion and incumbent Mayor Sean Murray, all democrats, by a margin of nearly two-to-one.
Murray said he is satisfied that the public supported us over these couple years.
I look forward to continuing the progress weve made, he said.
The reelection represents Murray's second term as mayor.
Its a great vote of confidence and shows people have some trust and confidence in what were doing, said Zachary, who will also begin his second term as a result of the reelection.
Opposition Republican candidates, former Mayor Al Donahue, Angelo Iacomini and Ed Del Monte, followed tradition and walked down the road in Buchanan to shake hands with the winners and offer congratulations.
A group of people who watched the polls throughout the day tallied the ballots with paper and pen and then offered official totals to the dozen people waiting as the voting machines were closed and locked.
The total votes, including absentee ballots, according to Village Administrator Kevin Hay, were 378 votes for Murray, 373 votes for Funchion and 369 votes for Zachary.
The total votes for opposition candidates were 195 for Donahue and 191 votes for both Del Monte and Iacomini.
