Hudson River Teachers Announce Scholarship Winners

Two Westchester students were awarded the Hudson River Teachers Federal Credit Union Awards in Mohegan Lake yesterday. The students each received $1,000 scholarships to take with them to the college of their choice.

“These kids are real achievers,” said Thom Powers, credit union CEO. “In addition to excellent grades and test scores they’re involved in the community. Both of these students have a very bright future ahead of them.” The students were presented with their oversized checks Monday, by Chairman of the Hudson River Teachers Federal Credit Union, Roland Faucher.

Sylvan Lane, a graduate of Lakeland High School in Shrub Oak, plans to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. with a major in journalism. Amanda Borok, a graduate of Yorktown High School in Yorktown Heights, plans to attend Clarkson University in Potsdam, where she wants to major in environmental and biochemical engineering.
