In the last school year, nine students from high schools in Westchester reportedly told Student Assistance Services counselors about their use of heroin, according to the story.
The painkiller Oxycodone was reportedly used by 59 students from 33 high schools, and 29 students said they used Percocet with no prescription, lohud.com says.
In the present school year SAS counselors from 29 schools reportedly got "reliable" reports about 65 students abusing opiates, the story says.
